On August 21, 2017 a spectacular Solar Eclipse touches down on the Oregon horizon. In fact, this will be the first total solar eclipse to be visible in the continental U.S. since 1979! It is also the first eclipse with a path from coast to coast in nearly 100 years. Warm Springs and Madras locations are ranked as the #1 viewing sites for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Indian Head Casino Native American Music Experience, Aug. 19th, 20th, 21st

Indian Head Casinos’ exclusive Native American entertainment experience features local, regional and national Native American music. Kelly Jackson and her band bring their “Native Americana” sounds to the stage starting at 8:00 pm on Saturday, August 19th. On Sunday, Arlie Neskahi & Eagle’s Jump combine Native vocals and flute playing into a unique sound for visitors starting at 8:00 pm. Charles Littleleaf, renowned flutist and Warm Springs Tribal member, will round out the musical experience on Monday, August 21st, starting at 3:00 pm. Museum at Warm Springs, Celestial Visions Exhibit & Artist Village, Aug. 19th, 20th

The Museum at Warm Springs opened the “Celestial Visions” exhibit on June 22nd which features beaded bags and tribal objects that portray the importance of this historical event. In addition to the exhibit, the Museum Artist Village will offer visitors a glimpse into our living history as Tribal members demonstrate family heirlooms, regalia, artwork and basketry. The Museum and Artist village will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with traditional dance performances daily at noon. The Museum will be open on Monday from noon to 5:00 pm. Total Solar Eclipse Festival of Events, Aug. 19th, 20th
Location: Community Center Baseball Fields, 2200 Hollywood Blvd, Warm Springs, OR 97761
This event will “kick off” on Saturday with wiffle ball and kickball starting at 10 am for youth ages 9 and older. On Sunday, the Warm Springs Nation Little League (WSNLL) All-Stars Players line-up will began at 9 am. Eagle Thunder will be on site for an honor song at 9:45 am followed by an honoring of the All-Stars and WSNLL Board. The final games of the event will start at 11:30 am. Native Sol Solar Eclipse Event, Aug. 19th, 20th, 21st

Native Aspirations presents “Native Sol”, August 19th – 21st. This event includes local vendors, tribal dance exhibitions, family games and prizes, and a pow-wow. Vendors will open at 9:00 am daily with tribal dance exhibitions on Saturday and Sunday starting at 1:00 pm. This event also features musical performances by nationally recognized artists including Blue Flamez on Saturday and Kelly Jackson on Sunday starting both days at 5:30 pm. On Monday, the event hosts a pow-wow starting at 11:00 am. This event is located in front of the Behavioral Health Center and open to community members and all visitors! Eclipse of the Ring, Warm Springs Nation Boxing Team, Aug. 19th

The Warm Springs Nation Boxing Team’s Eclipse of the Ring will happen on Saturday night at the VFW Hall. Weight in will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm followed by medical checks at 2:00 pm. Planetarium & Student Robotics Competition, Aug. 20th

Tribal youth are invited to join the Northwestern Earth and Sciences Pipeline for a Planetarium and Student Robotics Competition on Sunday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Warm Springs K-8 Academy. Solar Eclipse Viewing/NASA Balloon Launch, Aug. 21st
Location: Warm Springs K-8 Academy, 50 Chukar Road, Warm Springs, OR 97761
Tribal youth, community members and guests are invited to join the Northwestern Earth and Sciences Pipeline for solar eclipse viewing from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the Warm Springs K-8 Academy football field. Event organizers will provide free solar eclipse glasses, solar eclipse viewing telescopes, opportunities to take a photo of the Sun, potential live streaming from balloon flights and opportunities to explore the solar system. Experts will be on site to answer questions.
Tribal teams will also be launching high altitude balloons. Preparation begins at 8 am with the first set of balloons launching between 8:50 am and 9:10 am. The second set of balloons will launch between 9:10 am and 9:20 am.
